WISTHEM Opens New Subsidiary in the DRC

Since its inception in 2015, WISTHEM has quickly grown to become a global force in the markets of commodities, physical trading, and logistics. With offices in Lucerne, Hong Kong, and London, the core of our business practice is to find, obtain, and refine resources from places in which supply is plentiful, and transfer them to where demand is high.

As such, we are pleased to announce the opening of the newest subsidiary branch of WISTHEM in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The new subsidiary is named Interactive Energy DRC SA, and its purpose is to carry out, on its behalf and on behalf of third parties (partners and clients), the investment and activities in the fields of oil, mining, and infrastructure—more specifically, the following:

  • The research, prospecting, exploration, development, operation, refining, transport, storage, brokerage and distribution of solid, liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons, and any other related substances.
  • The research, prospecting, exploration, processing and related operations, including the marketing of mineral substances in the DRC.
  • The design, construction, financing and maintenance of infrastructure in the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a vast country with a rich heritage and a history steeped in culture. Its untapped deposits of natural resources, including cobalt ore and copper, are speculated to be among the largest in the world. However, its citizens are among the poorest in the world, largely due to decades of civil unrest and weakened infrastructure. Despite being one of the largest and most populous countries in Africa, the DRC consistently ranks as the lowest gross domestic product (GDP) per capita on the continent.

As stated above, the financing and maintenance of infrastructure is among our priorities with this new subsidiary. It is of the utmost importance that WISTHEM remains consistent with the guidelines of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. As such, we believe in making practical and positive strides toward sustainable development. Our company accomplishes this through strong partnerships, economically-viable investments, environmentally-sound practises, and socially-responsible actions. It is our hope and intention that our subsidiary in the DRC, along with new partnerships and clients, will help pave the way towards meaningful social and economic change.

The registered office of Interactive Energy DRC SA is located in the capital city of Kinshasa, on the Boulevard du 30 Juin, number 3642, in the commune of La Gombe, the political and business district of Kinshasa.
